After their father’s death he assumed the throne with his brother only taking over if needed. He met Aurora and her friends and began to study their ways when he learned he was chosen to wield the Power of the Element of Fire. Eventually, things spiraled out of control and in the years to follow, he surrounded himself in his studies, trying to find ways to return the country to peace again.

Sometimes it helps to have a bit of background on a character. Especially when I start describing symbols that are "branded" into the skin of those chosen with a more specific form of mystical energy. This was a way for me to show the symbol and better introduce the characters at the same time
